What is Fairfax Community Connections?

Fairfax Community Connections is not an organization, but a virtual collaboration of Fairfax County chambers, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups who share the goal of promoting and recognizing community engagement. Linking our websites and social media networks, our exposure and impact on members and viewers expands and provides a variety of opportunities to engage and learn about critical information and current needs, as well as success stories, throughout the County. To showcase the initiative as a strong resource, Fairfax Community Connections has implemented features through Volunteer Fairfax technology, including a shared community calendar to promote local events, including days of service, donation drives, and training opportunities; an information tool on how to donate to local organizations, both monetarily and physically; and a volunteer opportunity database to help community members find their right fit in the community. All of this, and more, can be found Facebook and the web site.

We invite you to participate in the launch of this new community engagement initiative through upcoming outreach events and opportunities.

Upcoming Outreach Events:

The idea for Fairfax Community Connections evolved from the collaboration with partners of Volunteer Fairfax, Fairfax County OP3 and Celebrate Fairfax. A single source for communications, ways to identify volunteer opportunities and a channel for resources to help the community were identified as unmet needs by the young professionals in attendance.

Support this new partnership by:

  1. "Like" Fairfax Community Connections on Facebook to receive news updates and opportunities in your community.
  2. Post your giving and volunteer events to the Fairfax Community Connections calendar on our web site. This is also a place to share invitations, photos, and stories from your organization.
  3. Share the Facebook and website links with your members through newsletters and your own webpage, explaining that Fairfax Community Connections is a resource for them to find ways to "Give, Gather and Get Involved!"
