Vance Zavela was honored by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce with the President's Award for Exceptional Engagement at their Greater McLean 2016 Suits and Sneakers Celebration on October 6.

OP3 and Refraction convened the Innovation Coalition last summer to highlight and foster innovation as part of the Economic Success Strategic Plan. Coalition member Canvas is hosting the world premiere screening of the new documentary THE UNIVERSITY, about a unique institution tucked away on a hidden NASA base in Silicon Valley, dedicated to changing the lives of billions. The inaugural film screening will be on Oct 21 as part of the Washington West Film Fest in Reston. After the film, the film producer and innovators from the region will discuss coming impactful changes. More info and tickets.

The Reston Chamber Engagement Committee, with the help of Wendy Lemieux, will feature the first in a series of seminars on Growing Your Business with Community Engagement on October 19. Community Business Partnership

From micro-loans to start-up counseling Community Business Partnership (CBP) offers a one-stop shop for small business assistance services in Fairfax County. It has helped businesses develop and succeed in Fairfax County since 1995. Over the last 20+ years, they have grown to meet the needs of Fairfax County small businesses and now operates five programs: Business Finance Center, Business Incubation Center, Small Business Development Center, Veteran Business Outreach Center and Women’s Business Center. Through these five programs, area businesses have access to no-cost or low-cost services to facilitate their growth and success.

INOVA

Inova's reach into the community is wide and deep.They have consistently made a difference for Fairfax's children through the Inova Partnership for Healthier Kids (PHK). This program is an amazing community collaborative which identifies uninsured children and connects them to affordable quality healthcare services through programs like Medicaid, CHIP and local safety net providers, like Fairfax County's Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP).PHK is funded jointly by Inova and by grants from the Department of Medical Assistance Services and the Virginia Health Care Foundation.

Since its inception in 1998 PHK, has helped ,more than 55,000 children and families access health care services. The PHK team works collaboratively with the Fairfax County Department of Family Services and Northern Virginia Family Services to ensure successful enrollment of eligivle children in county and state programs. With expanded outreach efforts, PHK has already assisted 733 in 2016 – that's a 24% increase from 2015!!
