  shop with a sheriff
For the past 23 years "Shop with a Sheriff" has partnered with local businesses to take kids from Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax, Patrick Henry Family Shelter in Falls Church and Next Steps Family Shelter in Alexandria shopping for school supplies!

Once again this year was a big success with each kid being given a $250 gift card to spend! Thanks to Target and all the local businesses who helped make this possible!

OP3 NEWS:

Proview Partners
with OP3

OP3 has developed a beneficial partnership with Doc Walker’s Proview magazine, resulting in solid exposure for  Fairfax County initiatives. Proview, in its 12th year of publication, is the flagship magazine from Doc Walker’s ProView business that includes television, radio and a business network.

Continuing his focus on supporting small business and nonprofits, Walker's quarterly magazine has featured articles from OP3on topics such as Corporate Social Responsibility and the Fairfax 50+ Initiative . ProView invited World Police and Fire Games to their August 28th networking event and will highlight WPFG in the December 2014 publication.

Thanks to the team at Proview for this great opportunity!

Coach Kids Who Love Math

Youth preparing for an awesome VEX Robotic Competition experience, need caring adults to work side-by-side with them as head coaches and assistant coaches.

Help the team plan, build, and operate robots in preparation for their robotics competitions. Coaches work to inspire self-confidence, develop project planning and problem solving skills, while developing a hands-on appreciation of science and technology.

Teams meet after school and evenings at ten Fairfax County locations from October 2014 through March 2015. Time commitment is about 2 hours per week.

What is VEX Robotics? VEX is a specifically tailored program that brings the magic of robotics competition to youth ages 10-18. It's learning and fun as it integrates all facets of STEM education and head-to-head competition.

Important Dates: Deadline is September 15, 2014. For more information about the VEX Robotics teams in Fairfax County, including locations and information sessions

Can't volunteer? Support VEX with a donation to the program.

More info; requirements; and responsibilities.
