I-Women's Conference

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFD) will host the Women in Fire and Emergency Services Conference, known as I-Women’s 2018 Conference, on May 24-26, 2018. The conference will draw female and male firefighters and emergency rescue personnel from around the world into Fairfax County for a multi-day event. Conference attendees receive expert instruction in a variety of areas that strengthen operational and leadership skills. Subjects like EEO, leadership, officer development, and tactical planning are just a few topics attendees will delve into during the classes and hand-on-workshops.  Plus, this event allows them to network with members from around the world and gain valuable knowledge from outside their jurisdictions.

I-Women, which stand for International Association of Women in Fire and Emergency Services, is an organization that provides support and education for current and future women in the fire and emergency services. It’s dedicated to improving the fire service through the involvement and success of women. This is the second-time Fairfax County has been chosen to host – the first was in 1955!
